MIDAZOLAM EN ANESTESIOLOGÍA

Resumen

El midazolam es un fármaco ansiolítico, anticonvulsivante, usado en la hipnosis en la anestesia general. Además se ha evidenciado su eficacia como medicamento adyuvante en anestesia regional y local con fines diagnósticos y terapéuticos. Materiales y métodos: Para la presente revisión sistemática se ha indagado revistas médicas, documentación como informes científicos, entre otros, de los últimos cinco años. Se ha realizado una búsqueda exhaustiva de la utilidad y eficacia del midazolam en anestesiología través de plataformas digitales como Pubmed, Springer, Nature, Read by Qx Med, British Medical Journal of medicine, Jama, New England Journal of Medicine y Scielo. Resultados: En esta revisión 721 publicaciones fueron analizadas para finalmente obtener 20 estudios que destacan la utilidad y efectividad del midazolam. Se ha descrito que el uso del midazolam en anestesiología es más seguro que la morfina en la sedación debido a que la incidencia de reacciones paradójicas son menores y leves. Posee un efecto psicoactivo relativamente bajo, pero con una acción sedante efectiva. Sin embargo, no se ha esclarecido su eficacia en niños en estado crítico. Además, se ha evidenciado su efecto eficaz y seguro en procedimientos diagnostico como las colonoscopias, endoscopias y en el ámbito oftalmológico. Otra ventaja frente a otros fármacos radica en que se evidencia su eficacia relativamente alta por via nasal, similar a la intraavenosa e intramuscular. Conclusión: Debido a su seguridad es ampliamente utilizado para comparar la efectividad de otros fármacos.
