Types of publication
Full experimental details should be provided so that results can be reproduced (where appropriate). Ciencia Ecuador requires that authors publish all experimental controls and make full data sets available whenever possible. Manuscripts submitted to Science Equator should not be published in advance, nor should they be considered for publication in another journal. The main types of articles are as follows:
- Articles: original research manuscripts. The journal considers all original research manuscripts as long as the work reports scientifically sound experiments and provides a substantial amount of new information. Authors should not unnecessarily divide their work into several related manuscripts, although short communications of preliminary but significant results will be considered. The quality and impact of the study will be considered during the peer review. 10 authors top, maximun of 50 references on reviews without methodology.
- Reviews: provide concise and accurate updates on the latest developments in a given area of research. Systematic reviews should follow the guidelines of Prism. 6 authors top, minimun of 40 references on reviews without methodology.
- Case Study: 6 authors and 15 references top.
- Letter to editor: 3 authors and references top.
- Opinion article: 1 author top.
- Shor or narrative review: 4 authors top; between 20 to 30 references.
