Fractura patológica secundaria a osteomielitis humeral en un paciente pediátrico: Reporte de caso

La osteomielitis es una infección del hueso que afecta la corteza y médula ósea, comúnmente en la metáfisis de huesos largos como fémur, tibia y húmero. Es más frecuente en niños menores de cinco años y varones, con predominio de etiología bacteriana, especialmente Staphylococcus aureus. Se presenta con dolor localizado, inflamación, fiebre y limitación funcional. El diagnóstico se basa en la sospecha clínica, apoyada por estudios de laboratorio e imágenes. Presentamos el caso de un paciente de 4 años con osteomielitis humeral complicada con fractura diafisaria desplazada, una complicación poco frecuente en la edad pediátrica. El caso resalta la importancia de la sospecha temprana y la integración de hallazgos clínicos, radiológicos y de laboratorio para un manejo oportuno y prevención de secuelas funcionales.
